Final thoughts for 2021: Turning Pain into Gratitude

The event in 2021 that was most worthy of gratitude was Guruji being exposed to the corona virus at the end of July. Hospitalized 3 weeks, recuperated in Ashram for 3 months.

It is a very deep test of inner quality. Like a tree that has proven to be strong because it has passed through the hectic weather. Not only was the inner quality tested, the quality of the close disciples was also tested.

It has always been heard that once the Master is sick or makes a mistake, the disciple will run away. In the Compassion family, the loyalty of close disciples was admirable.

Especially the medical team led by dr. Eka Imbawan (internist at Surya Husada Hospital in Nusa Dua Bali) and Dr. Yogi Rangga from Karangasem Hospital Bali. And all kind hearted donors. In short, it was beyond words.

Deeper than that, the coronavirus carries a very important message. The pain of the lungs inside is a reflection of the pain of the lungs outside (the forest). For that reason, the Compassion family forest was also getting expanded this year.

Previously it was only about 5 hectares, now it is dozens of hectares in North Bali. From the lungs the pain moved to the neck. It turns out that the neck is a bridge that connects the energy of heaven and earth.

After the lungs and neck were healed, Guruji was endowed with a whole new body. Outwardly, Guruji does not like to drink tea, now every morning it becomes very beautiful because his morning is accompanied by drinking tea.

This is a sign that the quality of compassion inside has increased very rapidly. Many things that used to be scary (caused anger) are now giving birth to many smiles.

Since the neck is greatly improved, the quality of the connection between the celestial energy (chakras 6 and 7) and the earth energy (chakras 1, 2, 3, 4) are much better. Too bad this is a secret teaching.

In short, the long pain makes every slightest sense of health give birth to gratitude. Feeling the discomfortness in the hospital makes every corner of the Ashram (wild birds, rice fields, lotus flowers, etc.) give birth to inner gratitude.

The old holy book is right on this. Pain is both purifying and perfecting. There are many things that cannot be achieved by meditation, yoga, study of holy books, the door is opened by long pain which is embraced by gratitude.

In the language of energy researchers, deep gratitude and deep love make energy vibrations rise rapidly. As a result, shanti (peace) is no longer a prayer, but an inner achievement.

Happy new year. May all beings be happy.

H.H. Guruji Gede Prama

Gede Prama started his spiritual journey through a dialogue with his symbolic Guru in a village at the north of Bali. The journey is then being enriched with his experiences of studying abroad, his meetings with the world greatest spiritual Gurus: His Holiness Dalai Lama, The Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh, as well as Professor Karen Armstrong; and also being deepened by his intense meditation practices.

Despite the fact that he was once a CEO of a large corporation with thousand of employees, and was traveling abroad frequently for the purpose of teaching, yet, being deeply moved by the Bali bombing incident in 2002, he then decided to leave everything and went back to his home island.
He has never leave Bali for the past few years. In fact, he rarely leaves the silence of the forest where he lives, except for the purpose of teaching at the sacred sites within Bali.
