Holiday Everyday

Written by Gede Prama

One of the most important reason why people are always longing for a vacation because they want to get rid of the inner discomfort. Millions of people every year spend a lot of money, going to a far far away places, only to escape from all forms of inner discomfort. And at the end, from time to time, from year to year, yet the number of people who feel uncomfortable are keep increasing. The progress and growth of the tourism industry is very convincing supporting data in this regard. The truth is similar to night and day, the inconvenience and comfort rotates alternately.

Little is realized that the main problem is not how to get rid of discomfort because discomfort cannot be completely discarded, but rather how to relate healthily to the inner discomfort. As a deep thought, profound spiritual practices such as meditation and yoga are not here to dispel discomfort. Rather it guides us so that we can connect more healthfully with the discomfort inside. Strangely, once a person has a healthy relationship with the inner discomfort, there the person can actually enjoy the true holiday.

As a practical guideline, the same as the nature season which naturally recognizes summer and rainy season, comfortable and uncomfortable is the essence of small inner nature. Never hate the nature of hot fire. Never hate the nature of wet water. In the same way, don’t ever hate the nature of the small inner nature which turns alternately between uncomfortable and comfortable. Afternoon is time to work, night is the time to rest. Likewise with comfort and discomfort.

When comfort comes, it’s a round of time to be thankful and gratitude a lot. Live every comfort accompanied by deep awareness that everything will actually pass. No need to grasp, just allow the feeling of comfort to pass naturally, give spiritual nourishment to the soul inside. Like eating a good food, just enjoy the good taste. Allow the good taste to pass through the mouth slowly, slowly, and naturally. In order for a sense of comfort to enrich the soul, allow comfort to make you more connected to the Supreme Self. Gratitude is a close friend in this matter. Thank you is the most beautiful prayer at a time like this. In the West there are those who call it falling into grace.

When discomfort visit, it’s an invitation for friends to grow deeper and deeper. Without the darkness of the night, any light will not radiate beautifully. Without inconvenience, any comfort will be flat and tasteless. For this reason, reduce excessive discomfort. Never be hostile to inconvenience. Like a disease that carries spiritual messages, discomfort also brings guidance. The first guidance, it shows that someone is growing in a less balanced manner.

If we sit too much, try take a walk in the open garden with beautiful views. If the we are saturated in the crowd, learn to live in solitude. Suppose you are bored with the lives of adults who are too serious, occasionally visit children who are laughing and singing. The second guidance presented by the inconvenience, there was a pile of internal stresses that surfaced. If that happens, quickly find a healthy media expression. Writing is one healthy choice. Write your stressed feelings in a secret place. Write without being right or wrong, without being good or bad, without fear of being known. Whenever it feels calmer and balanced, radiate the energy of unconditional love and acceptance.

In the language of students in the path of psychologist Carl G. Jung, find a shadow inside (read: depressed feelings). If you need to learn to dance with the shadow. Get to know more about the perfection of the soul that resembles a perfect circle. In the East he is called a mandala. In China it is called Yin-Yang. Balinese elders refer to the human soul as a dewa ya kala ya. There is a dark side as well as a bright side in the human soul. And both of them are the same pair of perfect lips. The third guideline that presents inconvenience, inconvenience is the invitation for someone to bring a light of awareness to the darkness within.

A friend in the West who teaches subtle and gentle spiritual gymnastics. With slow body movements slowly and simultaneously heals. As well as successfully healing many people share a story, the one that heal and reconcile are not their movements, but the consciousness that accompanies each movement. Exactly, deep awareness that all are come in pairs. Sadness is the partner of happiness. Dislike is the partner of likes. As well as these two pairs come and go without stopping. Grief and sadness are here not as spiritual poisons. Instead, it is a present brings spiritual nutrition. Exactly the nutrients that make the soul deeper. In the West there are those who name this spiritual step with healing the whole self. The word healthcomes from the word whole.

Armed with these three guidance which presented this inconvenience, we will be no longer hostile to discomfort. Instead, start being able to relate healthily to discomfort. As a result, discomfort will stopped being an enemy, he will present himself as a friend who helped the soul to grow. In the world of meditation, this is called transformation to the root level. Like trees, if the leaves, stems and roots are healthy, then the whole part of the soul becomes healthy. Armed with this, it is very possible that life’s journey will be safe.

To make the story concise, solid, yet profound, the beautiful fruit of deep spiritual practice like this is heartfully doing service in the crowd, but the mind rests in the silence of solitude. The body may work or serve the family, but the heart rests in a sense of well-being and deep gratitude. That is exactly what is called a holiday everyday. And you don’t need to spend a lot of money, or go far away to get rid of your inner discomfort. What’s left is only one, a daily life that is very rich with smiles.
