Shiva Night and Eclipse…

Shiva Night and Eclipse…

Tonight 8/4 2024 is a unique night. A rare occasion!.  On the one hand, it is a moonless night, a time when most Shiva devotees pray.

In the middle of the night there is an eclipse.  A unique concoction that is rare.  At times like this, it is best to do deep reflection.

To guide all friends, in nature there are available abundance of teachings.  Buddha loved the Full moon.  Muslim friends love the crescent moon.

Venerable Lama Padmashambava is in love with the half moon.  Shiva devotees also love the crescent moon which is close to the moonless nights.

This information are considered confidential, there is a sacred teaching close to the Eclipse.  Not many people are allowed to enter this area.  For ordinary people it is very dangerous.

For public consumption, it is not advisable to say one is better than the other.  What is recommended is try to look at it with a broad perspective.

For beginners, following the path of our parents is a safe path.  Whatever religion that your parents inherit, just follow it sincerely and wholeheartedly.

For sensitive souls, it is recommended to be sensitive to feel each cycle of time.  Use the comfort within as a compass.

If you feel comfortable in learning the teachings that are different from those that have been passed down by your parents, there is no need to be radical by changing religions.  There is no need!

Just follow the appropriate teachings.  Respect other teachings that are different.  HH Thich Nhat Hanh is one of the figures on this path.

“Buddhism is not a religion. Buddhism is a practice like yoga. You can practice Buddhism and at the same time become a catholic priest”.

At the same time, he remains a Catholic priest, as an example.  For today’s cycle, this approach is relatively comfortable and safe.

Whenever a person is perfectly enlightened, there he will understand: “The enlightened mind is like space, religion is like a box.”

And there is no box that can accommodate all the space in nature.  Hence, enlightened people feel more comfortable in silence.

In Islam there is Rumi: “Silence is the only language of God. The rest is only poor translation”.  Silence is God’s only language.

The rest is just an error in translation.  A traveler once asked Buddha: “which is true, is there atman or is there no atman?”

Buddha just smile in silence. Whenever there was an unresolved conflict, Mahatma Gandhi always chose to remain silent without saying anything at all.

Beautiful news from Bali, Balinese elders who decided the new year as Nyepi, called God by the name Hyang Embang (The most perfect silence), no doubt, He / She has reach enlightenment.

And throughout Bali’s history, it is almost impossible to hear of a Balinese spiritual figure who is commensurate with this achievement. May all friends be happy.

About the author

H.H. Guruji Gede Prama

Gede Prama started his spiritual journey through a dialogue with his symbolic Guru in a village at the north of Bali. The journey is then being enriched with his experiences of studying abroad, his meetings with the world greatest spiritual Gurus: His Holiness Dalai Lama, The Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh, as well as Professor Karen Armstrong; and also being deepened by his intense meditation practices.

Despite the fact that he was once a CEO of a large corporation with thousand of employees, and was traveling abroad frequently for the purpose of teaching, yet, being deeply moved by the Bali bombing incident in 2002, he then decided to leave everything and went back to his home island.
He has never leave Bali for the past few years. In fact, he rarely leaves the silence of the forest where he lives, except for the purpose of teaching at the sacred sites within Bali.
