The Light of Love on The Day of Love

Written by Gede Prama

Coincidingly with the day of love today, early in the morning at the top of Mount Agung there is a super beautiful view. When viewed on the Balinese calendar, it turns out that tomorrow 10-09-2020 the Javanese Sugihan day, the day after 11-09-2020 is the Sugihan Bali day. Some Balinese call Sugihan Jawa as being rich outside. Sugihan Bali is summed up as being rich on the inside.

By still respecting people who are still proud of the outside wealth, here are some ingredients for thought to be rich inside. The kind of wealth that no one could steal. It can even be carried long even after the body is dead.

1. It is not enough to pray in a holy place that made of bricks, it is time to pray in a holy place that is made by love
2. It is not enough to pray only in the presence of the Light, learn to pray to share the Light
3. Not enough to understand by exchanging words, let’s learn to understand through concrete actions
4. It is enough to be messed up by the world drama, it is time to light up the world too
5. It is enough to be played by the news, stay away from all the news
6. It is enough to be tired of wealth, let’s train ourselves to be made happy by wealth
7. Light is not born by removing all the negatives, but is born by synthesizing both negatives and positives
8. A smile of understanding is an internal synthetic power
9. Always be a witness in the middle, it is also a synthetic power within
10. The loneliness that gives birth to compassion is also a synthetic power within
11. That is the most beautiful way of sheltering yourself in this era. Formerly, it was called Basukian (the path to salvation)

About the author

Gede Prama

Gede Prama started his spiritual journey through a dialogue with his symbolic Guru in a village at the north of Bali. The journey is then being enriched with his experiences of studying abroad, his meetings with the world greatest spiritual Gurus: His Holiness Dalai Lama, The Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh, as well as Professor Karen Armstrong; and also being deepened by his intense meditation practices.

Despite the fact that he was once a CEO of a large corporation with thousand of employees, and was traveling abroad frequently for the purpose of teaching, yet, being deeply moved by the Bali bombing incident in 2002, he then decided to leave everything and went back to his home island.
He has never leave Bali for the past few years. In fact, he rarely leaves the silence of the forest where he lives, except for the purpose of teaching at the sacred sites within Bali.
