Since ancient Greek times until modern medical times, it has been recorded that 80% of healing comes from the stomach. Later, modern medicine even discovered the nerves that connect the stomach and brain. Which again makes it important to pay attention to the stomach for healing and health purposes.
In a very old healing book called Ayur Veda it is also similar. For a long time there has been a message like this: “When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.” In other words, it is very important to pay attention to food for healing and health purposes.
As a simple but profound guideline, it is worth thinking about eating food that comes directly from nature (vegetables and fruit). And with a lot of variation. What is worth paying attention to is the body’s response to food. Please note carefully: “The person who understands the body best is the body itself. Not other parties.” For this reason, when choosing food, look carefully at your body’s response. Whether it’s the feces that come out, the stability of thoughts and feelings, or even the quality of sleep.
When you step out into the daily life, think about this message: “No matter how sophisticated the research results are, don’t follow them if your body rejects them. No matter how simple an idea is, it’s worth doing if your body gives a sign of acceptance.” Just as an example, experts are still debating the importance of multivitamins. But Guruji’s body responds positively to multivitamins, so Guruji eats multivitamins. There are many recommendations for grounding everywhere. Guruji’s legs refused to walk with out any footwear. So this idea was not implemented.
In short, get to know the unique characteristics of your body, then carefully find the right food for you. What you need to be careful of is that the body continues to flow. Conyinously changing. Foods that are suitable at certain times may not be suitable at other times. In essence, learn to be sensitive and carefully understand your own body. Use pain to understand the body more deeply.
As important as food that comes in through the mouth, food that comes in through the mind also needs to be paid attention to. Especially because in this day and age, there are many diseases caused by wrong thoughts, not wrong food. As a guide, pay attention to the following three stages of awareness.
First, awareness of calling oneself a victim (victim awareness). Whether it’s a victim of parents breaking up, a victim abandoned by a boyfriend, a victim of bullying at school. This is the kind of awareness that makes the mind creates many illnesses. The sooner you recover from this type of awareness the better. The medicine is sincerity to forgive, courage to let go, and persistence to always be happy in the present. With anything and anyone who already exists in our life.
What you need to watch out for in this case is the brain. The brain is the organ that first appeared in the animal world. So if a person solely depends it entire life based on the brain, a person’s behavior is more likely to be similar to animal: “Too rigid in trying to protect themselves, too easily react and attacking the others.” And this is the source of many diseases and conflicts! So it is important to balance a brain that likes to call itself righteous, with a heart that is happy doing good. Guide the brain with messages like this: “Positive thoughts produce positive life”. Positive thoughts make you give birth to a positive life. Even better if it can be more holistic.
Second, awareness to achieve goals (achieving awareness). Like a child who dreams of becoming an astronaut. When he said he wanted to be an astronaut, his brain released dopamine. Likewise when going to school, moving up a class, graduating from elementary school, middle school, high school, etc. Along the way the brain releases dopamine. The lesson is, no matter how old you are, you can have noble goals in life. At least it can bring children and grandchildren to a better level. At this stage the morning becomes beautiful and going to bed becomes more beautiful.
Third, awareness about enlightenment (awakening awareness). It’s okay to have goals and desires, but don’t forget that in this world everything is impermanent. So the beautiful medicine that is recommended: “Do your best and embrace the results in the best way.” Find happiness along the journey. Gratitude is a beautiful friend. Sincerity is another friend. Besides that, happiness is the fruit of courage. So dare to be happy with whatever and whoever you have now. On this path the message is often heard: “No better cure than silence”. There is no medicine that heals more than a peaceful silence.
Once it is clear, the mind not only stops leaking energies, but also becomes a medicinal garden within. The combination of achieving awareness (second awareness) with awakening awareness (third awareness), is what makes the body become an inner medicinal garden. So that every daily step becomes a step towards healing, happiness and peace.
