My personal journey to the light…

“How do you begin your journey to the light?”, that’s the questions of many students. It’s a long and complicated trip anyway. To be frank, it began in my childhood when I was never afraid of darkness. Later on I can learn spirituality much easier than memorizing school lessons. Till one day human tragedy of Bali terorrist bombing that happened in 2002 changed my life completely upside down. From material life into spiritual life.

To leave behind spiritual foot prints here on earth, here’s the unique path that I follow since childhood. You don’t need to copy it. Simply use it as comparison, take some lessons, and the most important thing, be yourself. To put it more precisely, be the unique and the authentic you! Especially because, the journey to the light is a very personal journey. It’s between you and you.

The story begin…

To begin the story, journey to the light can be a metaphor often used to describe the pursuit of enlightenment, personal growth, and self-discovery. It can also a personal meeting with the light. This journey can take various forms, depending on one’s beliefs, experiences, and goals, but it generally involves moving from a state of ignorance or confusion toward greater awareness, understanding, and fulfillment.

The concept of “light” in this context symbolizes knowledge, truth, and clarity. It is the antithesis of darkness, which represents ignorance, fear, and suffering. The journey to the light, therefore, is about transcending the limitations of one’s current state and reaching a higher plane of existence or consciousness. In my case, this journey is also a personal encounter with the light. At the beginning, it appears in the sky. Later on it comes closer. Till one day meditation open the inner light.

Stages of the journey…

1. Awakening from long sleep
Most light seekers begin with a sense of dissatisfaction or a realization that something is missing in one’s life. This awakening can be triggered by a significant event, such as a personal loss, a profound experience, or a moment of deep introspection. It is the recognition that there is more to life than the material and the mundane, prompting a search for deeper meaning. In my unique path, the awareness of light appear in childhood. Since childhood I was never afraid of darkness. It’s a clear sign that I was born with many seeds of light.

2. Seeking and enriching
Once awakened from long sleep, the individual embarks on a quest for knowledge and understanding. This stage involves exploring various philosophies, religions, and spiritual practices. It is a period of learning and enriching, where one seeks out teachers, reads books, attends seminars, and engages in practices like meditation, prayer, or yoga. The goal is to gather wisdom and tools that will aid in the journey.

3. From enrichment to transformation
As you gain knowledge and experience, an inner transformative process begins. Old habits, beliefs, and behaviors are examined and often discarded in favor of new, more enlightened ways of being. This stage can be challenging, as it involves confronting one’s fears, insecurities, and deeply ingrained patterns. It requires commitment, perseverance, and a willingness to change.

4. The inner integration
The insights and changes acquired during the transformative stage must be integrated into one’s daily life. This involves applying new understandings to relationships, work, and personal conduct. It is about living in alignment with one’s higher values and truths, making choices that reflect a deeper sense of purpose and integrity. Problems, obstacles, difficulties, or even life disasters happen in this stage. In some parts, the prablems are far higher than my capacity to cope with it. In that moment, surrender is my best accompany.

5. Personal Illumination
If one is blessed spiritually, he/she will come to the stage of illumination, where the individual reaches a heightened state of awareness and connection with the divine or the higher self. This state is characterized by inner peace, joy, and a profound sense of oneness with all life. It is the realization of one’s true nature and the fulfillment of the journey’s ultimate goal.

Threats and opportunities…

The journey to the light is not without its challenges. It often involves facing inner demons, enduring periods of doubt and confusion, and overcoming external obstacles. The path can be lonely at times, as it requires breaking away from societal norms and expectations.

The good news, the rewards are immeasurable. Those who undertake this journey often find a deep sense of peace and contentment. They develop a clearer understanding of their purpose in life and cultivate a more compassionate and loving attitude toward themselves and others. The journey to the light brings a sense of liberation from the constraints of the ego and a connection to something greater than oneself.

Brief conclusion

The journey to the light is a timeless and universal quest that transcends cultural and religious boundaries. It is a path of self-discovery and spiritual growth that leads to greater awareness, understanding, and fulfillment. While the journey is deeply personal, it ultimately connects individuals to the universal truths that bind humanity together. Whether one finds light through religious faith, spiritual practice, or personal introspection, the journey is a testament to the enduring human spirit and the innate drive toward enlightenment and self-realization.

After listening to my personal story of meeting the light, certain spirit in my Ashram asked me a question: “How do you call yourself after meeting the light?”. Suddenly certain part of my self answered straightforwardly: “I am silence who’s here to serve love”. It’s been recorded in the story of the mystic, as soon as one meet the light, they love silence. Not the ordinary silence, but silence which is full of love.
